Bettiah (Bihar) [India], November 11 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sanjay Jaiswal on Tuesday urged voters to come out in large numbers and ensure a voter turnout of over 75 per cent, highlighting the role of voting in strengthening public welfare schemes.
Speaking to ANI after casting his vote at a local polling booth, Jaiswal said, “I urge everyone to certainly cast their vote and register over 75 per cent of voter turnout. Your vote ensures free ration to the poor, free treatment, free electricity, and Rs 10,000 in the accounts of women. This is the power of your vote. So, I urge everyone to cast their vote…There will be record-breaking voting.”
Jaiswal, accompanied by his family, showed his inked finger after voting, encouraging citizens to participate in the democratic process actively.
Further, Jaiswal’s wife, Manju Chaudhary, also appealed to everyone to come out of their homes, vote and elect an MLA of their choice.
“I appeal to everyone to come out of their house, vote and elect an MLA of their choice. Form a strong government in the state so that development takes place,” the BJP MP’s wife said.
Meanwhile, reacting to the blast near Red Fort in Delhi on Monday that killed several people, Jaiswal said, “This is deeply saddening. Thousands of kgs of explosives were seized yesterday, more than 360 kgs of ammonium nitrate were seized, and there were raids in Delhi, Faridabad, Saharanpur and Kashmir. This could have been done out of frustration. Justice will be done. HM visited the spot and the hospital. The government is very sensitive and sees this to its end.”
Meanwhile, amid chaos following the deaths in a blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, security measures in Bihar have been increased across various districts for the second phase of the Assembly elections, which began this morning.
Security personnel deployed at a polling station in the Bhagalpur Assembly constituency, which will witness a direct contest between the Congress’s Ajeet Sharma and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rohit Pandey.
Anand Kumar, Presiding Officer at the Durga Charan High School in the Bhagalpur Assembly constituency, said, “Four booths have been set up here, and this is booth no 47. The number of voters is 945. I am hopeful that people will come out to vote in large numbers. All the preparations have been made.”
The voting for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections will be held on Tuesday in 122 constituencies across 20 districts of Bihar. (ANI)
