Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], April 16 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday expressed gratitude after being appointed as the new president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
In a post on X, CM Soren said that today, when he assumes the post of President of JMM, many emotions are flowing through his mind.
“This is not an ordinary post, but it is a representation of the dreams, struggles and aspirations of the people of Jharkhand. Respected Baba, it is a proud moment for me to get the opportunity to take forward the ideologies under which our mentor respected Shibu Soren ji had laid the foundation of JMM,” he said.
“I humbly accept this responsibility and take a pledge that I will become the voice of every village, every poor, every deprived and every youth of Jharkhand. The history of our party is full of struggles, but our resolve is unwavering,” Hemant Soren emphasized.
He called for the unity to fight for their identity, development and justice of Jharkhand.
“I promise to all the workers, leaders and people of Jharkhand – I will never let your trust break. Once again, I reiterate the supreme vision of JMM that lets us together build such a society, state and country where there is equality, justice, and every citizen gets a dignified life. Jai Johar!” Hemant Soren said.
After Hemant Soren was appointed President of the JMM, Shibu Soren, who was serving the post, was elected as the party’s ‘Founder Patron’ in the 13th ‘Mahaadhiveshan’ of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
This decision was taken in JMM’s 13th central convention, which was conducted in Ranchi. Till now, Hemant Soren was executive president.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is a regional party and is ruling in Jharkhand. It is part of the Congress-led INDIA alliance at the Centre and JMM-led Mahagathbandhan in Jharkhand.
The JMM won the recently concluded Jharkhand assembly elections and subsequently formed its government along with its allies Congress, RJD and left.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 34 seats, while its allies won 22 seats. Among JMM’s allies, the Congress won 16 seats, RJD four seats, and CPI-ML two seats. The BJP won 21 seats, and its allies AJSU, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and JD-U won one each. (ANI)
