Morena (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 13 (ANI): In a commendable move, a team of SDERF (State Disaster Emergency Response Force) on Friday rescued a pregnant woman who had gone into labour and was stuck in her house surrounded by water due to the overflowing Asan river. The SDRF teamd sent her to the hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district.
On Friday, a pregnant woman in Ghuraiya Basai village in the district went into labour but due to water surrounding her village from all sides, the ambulance was unable to reach the village. Upon which the family informed the district administration and SDRF team reached the spot to help them.
SDERF Platoon Commander Deepak Rathore reached the village with his team with a motor boat, rescued the woman out of the village and sent her to hospital with the help of an ambulance.
Platoon Commander Deepak Rathore told ANI, “We received information from the DM control room that a woman in Ghuraiya Basai village is pregnant and needed to be rescued from the village, which was surrounded from all sides by water due to the overflowing Asan river. We rescued her and sent her to the district hospital with the help of an ambulance.”
Sarpanch Kaushal Ghuraiya told ANI, “We are taking the woman to Morena district hospital for delivery. The whole village was surrounded by water for two days and delivery is not possible in the village. The woman is in trouble and the delivery can not be done at home so with the help of the SDERF team we are taking her to the district hospital. Due to the overflowing of the river, six to seven villages are affected. The SDERF team is taking us out with the help of a motor boat and we will go to Morena district hospital.”
Following the heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, gates of several dams have been opened across the state. After opening the gates of Pagara Dam in Morena, the Asan river is overflowing as a result of which nearby villages in Morena district got stuck in flood-like situation. (ANI)
