New Delhi [India], August 16 (ANI): General Secretary of CPI (M) D Raja on Friday said that the rape and murder of the female doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was a heinous crime and has led to agitations across the whole country.
Speaking to ANI, Raja said “What has happened in Kolkata is a heinous crime. The agitation has continued not just in West Bengal but across the whole country. Not only medical doctors and students have been protesting but women from other organizations have also joined the protest now. The West Bengal government needs to convince the people now on how the government has been taking strong action against the culprits and how it has been considering the demands made by the doctors and the other medical personnel.”
Further, he added that the West Bengal government should not engage in the blame game of accusing the opposition parties. The law and order is the responsibility of the CM and she needs to honestly tell the doctors and the people of Bengal what the government has been doing.
“The West Bengal government should not engage in the blame game of accusing the opposition parties. The law and order is the responsibility of the CM and she needs to honestly tell the doctors and the people of Bengal what the government has been doing to bring justice to the matter. However, Mamata Banerjee has only been politicizing everything and trying to blame others without addressing the real concerns of the doctors and the medical personnel,” Raja further added.
Earlier on August 10, the CPI (M) workers held a rally demanding justice for the rape and murder of the doctor.
CPI (M) West Bengal State Secretary Md Salim demanded a judicial inquiry into this matter.
Md Salim said, “The city that we used to call ‘City of Joy’ has now become ‘City of Bhay’ (City of Fear). Here, even a doctor is not safe. The principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital is close to CM Mamata Banerjee. The Police Commissioner of Kolkata was suppressing the case so the people are on the streets. We demand a judicial inquiry into this matter.” (ANI)
