Karnal (Haryana) [India], July 15 (ANI): The first monsoon showers arrived in the rural area of Karnal on Monday, providing relief from the heat.
The rain is also beneficial to the farmers, proving to be a boon for the crops planted this season. Farmers have planted paddy and sorghum, the latter of which acts as both fertiliser and animal feed.
The heavy rains will help the crops grow better.
Residents of the village reported that it has been raining continuously for the past few days.
Additionally, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms and lightning with moderate rain for parts of Karnal, Jind, Panipat, and Kaithal.
Meanwhile, rain lashed parts of Delhi on July 13, causing waterlogging and traffic snarls. The rain, however, brought respite from the July heat.
The neighbouring city, Noida, also witnessed rain.
Visuals from the Barapullah flyover in Delhi showed vehicles moving slowly through waterlogged roads.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that light rain will continue in Delhi and Noida until July 17.
Due to the rain, water levels in the Yamuna River are expected to rise in the coming days. Authorities have issued alerts to residents of villages in Noida along the riverbanks.
Furthermore, heavy rains across the country have wreaked havoc in the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh.
Severe waterlogging has occurred in Moradabad due to the heavy rains.
Sunil Kumar, a local resident, said, “Waterlogging has led to the roads in the villages being closed, and the routes to nearby villages have also been shut. It has caused difficulty in getting food and other resources.”
The IMD has predicted rainfall in North and North-East India, including East Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country. (ANI)
