Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 8 (ANI): Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur hailed the BJP’s victory in Haryana as a “historic victory.”

He highlighted the stark contrast between the exit poll predictions and the actual results, stating, “According to yesterday’s exit polls, Congress was expected to form the government in Haryana, and their members were so confident they would secure more than 60 seats. But today, as the votes were counted, the BJP achieved a historic victory.”

“Today, for the third time in a row, BJP has won there with a great majority. I congratulate CM Nayab Singh Saini and the people of the state,” Thakur said while speaking to ANI.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress after BJP’s victory in Haryana assembly polls, saying it has become “parjeevi” (parasite) and people in most states have put “no entry” signboard for it.

Addressing party workers in Delhi, PM Modi said Congress is unable to retain a state while BJP has been repeatedly voted back to power in several states.

“Wherever BJP forms government, the people there support BJP for a long time. And on the other hand, what is the condition of Congress? When was the last time a Congress government came back to power? About 13 years ago in 2011, their government was repeated in Assam and since then their government has not been formed again…In most of the states of the country, people have put up ‘no entry’ boards for Congress,” he said.

BJP won absolute majority in Haryana assembly polls. The party won 48 seats, its largest victory in Haryana, and is slated to form its third successive government in the state.

The Indian National Congress (INC) follows closely, having won 37 seats, bringing their total to 37 seats. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has won 2 seats, and Independent candidates have secured three seats. (ANI)
