New Delhi [India], January 6 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday launched a scathing attack while responding to BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s reported objectionable statement on Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, saying that the elections will show who is the real father (chunav ke jab result ayenge tab pata chalega kon kiska baap hai).
Speaking to ANI, Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “chunav ke jab result ayenge tab pata chalega kon kiska baap hai…”
This comes after Ramesh Bidhuri, who is BJP’s candidate against Atishi from the Kalkaji constituency, addressing a public gathering made ‘controversial’ remarks on CM Atishi’s surname and family.
“Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father,” Bidhuri said.
On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ramesh Bidhuri over his ‘controversial’ remarks on Chief Minister Atishi Marlena at a public gathering in the national capital.
Reacting to the remarks, Arvind Kejriwal took to social media platform X and said that BJP leaders have crossed “all limits of shamelessness” and are “abusing” Chief Minister Atishi,
He further asserted that the people of Delhi will not tolerate this and give a befitting reply to the BJP in the upcoming assembly polls.
“BJP leaders have crossed all limits of shamelessness. BJP leaders are abusing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi ji. The people of Delhi will not tolerate the insult of a woman Chief Minister. All the women of Delhi will take revenge for this,” posted Kejriwal on X.
Bidhuri had earlier sparked another row with ‘controversial’ remarks on Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh on X shared his video, where Bidhuri stated that they would make all the roads in Kalkaji like the “cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi” if BJP comes to power.
Speaking on Bidhuri’s purported statement on Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Bhardwaj said that the BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri should apologize for this.
He further expressed his surprise, stating that “no harsh comment” has been made from the Congress party, condemning the Bidhuri’s statement.
Bhardwaj said, “…I was waiting for the Congress leaders to say something about Ramesh Bidhuri because he has made such a derogatory statement about Priyanka Gandhi. But I am very surprised that till now no harsh comment has been made about that statement… He (Ramesh Bidhuri) should apologize for this… He should apologize to those about whom he has said this and he should apologize in the same manner in which he (Ramesh Bidhuri) has made this statement… Delhi is a civilized society and the public will answer such politicians …”
Meanwhile, Bidhuri on Sunday expressed regret over his controversial remarks about Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra amid Congress outrage.
Speaking to ANI, Bidhuri clarified that his comments were made in the context of remarks by RJD supremo Lalu Yadav and emphasized that the Congress party had remained silent when similar statements were made during his tenure as chief minister of Bihar.
“Such statements have been made before. I have said that in the context of what Lalu Yadav had said. Congress remained silent on that even when he (Lalu Yadav) was a minister in their govt. If anyone is hurt by my remark, I express regret over it and I take my words back,” the BJP leader said.
Lalu Prasad Yadav once made a notable promise during a rally in Bihar. He vowed to make roads in the state as smooth as the cheeks of actor-turned-politician and BJP MP Hema Malini.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate strongly criticised the BJP candidate, terming the remark as “shameful,” and accused the BJP of fostering an anti-women mindset.
Taking to X, Shrinate said that Bidhuri’s statement against Congress Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad was not only shameful but also showed his “disgusting” mentality towards women.
The assembly elections in Delhi are likely to be held in February 2025.
Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 successive years, has performed poorly in the past two assembly polls, failing to win any seat.
AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in the 2020 assembly elections and BJP secured eight seats. (ANI)
