Constitution Day: “He gave us right to vote,” J-K Dy CM remembers Babasaheb Ambedkar – World News Network

Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], November 26 (ANI): On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary said that Babasaheb Ambedkar gave the people of India right to vote, one of the most important things.
“Today, we are celebrating the Constitution Day. I congratulate all of you. The fundamental rights of a common man have been mentioned in the Constitution…When Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, who gave the fundamental rights and introduced equality and uniformity,” Dy CM Surinder Choudhary told reporters here.
“He gave us the right to vote, one of the biggest thing,” he added.
Later, addressing a gathering here, Choudhary said, “This Constitution is not just a word but provides for laying down rules and regulations across the country”.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu released a commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of 75 years of the Constitution of India at Samvidhan Sadan in the national capital.
Murmu also released two books related to the Constitution at Samvidhan Sadan.
The book titled, “Making of the Constitution of India: A Glimpse” and “Making of the Constitution of India & its Glorious Journey” were released. Additionally, President Murmu released the Sanskrit and Maithili copies of the Constitution.
President Murmu, joined by other prominent leaders, collectively recited the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
The event commemorates the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. The Constitution formally came into effect on January 26, 1950. (ANI)
