Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], October 23 (ANI): Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) has completed the construction of a 60 meters long steel rail bridge in Vadodara.
The bridge was constructed on Bajwa-Chhayapuri line of Western Railways and is part of the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, and was completed on October 22.
This is the fifth steel bridge completed out of the 28 steel bridges planned for the MAHSR corridor.
The structure itself is 12.5 meters high,14.7 meters wide, weighs around 645 metric tonnes, and was manufactured at Bhachau city in Kachchh district, with it being later transported for installation at the site.
The bridge assembly uses around 25659 Tor-Shear Type High Strength (TTHS) bolts with C5 system painting and elastomeric bearings and is designed for a lifespan of 100 years.
According to a statement, bridge was erected at a height of 23.5 meters after being constructed on the ground on a temporary structure and then lifted above the 21 meter height of the pier.
“It was raised by an automated mechanism of 2 semi-automatic jacks each having a capacity of 250 tonnes. It used MAC-alloy bars,” added the statement.
According to a statement by the government, “The project is being executed meticulously maintaining the highest standards of safety and engineering excellence. Leveraging Japanese expertise, India is using its own technological and material resources for building infrastructure under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
According to NHSRC, the entire journey on the rail corridor will be completed in little more than 2 hours, with the trains operating at a speed of 320 km per hour.
Additionally, 35 trains per day would be operating, with a frequency of 20 mins in peak hours and 30 mins in non-peak hours
The operations control room for the corridor will be located at Sabarmati. (ANI)
