Amritsar (Punjab) [India], October 7 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday recovered approximately 560 grams of suspected heroin in a plastic container in Ratankhurd village, Amritsar district, Punjab, officials said.
According to a BSF press release, troops observed a suspicious container while overseeing harvesting operations ahead of the border security fence at the Amritsar border.
The plastic container, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, had an iron wire hook attached. Inside, the heroin was found, the press release stated.
In a similar incident on Saturday, the BSF, in collaboration with Punjab Police, recovered a packet of suspected heroin from Dal village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district.
Based on information from the BSF intelligence wing regarding the presence of narcotics in the Tarn Taran border area, an extensive search operation was launched. The search concluded at approximately 1:00 pm on Saturday with the recovery of a 568-gram packet of suspected heroin, the BSF said in a statement.
The narcotics were wrapped in yellow and white adhesive tape, and an improvised metal wire loop was attached to the packet. This recovery took place in a farming field in Dal village, the release added.
Earlier, in a successful joint operation by the BSF and Punjab Police, a packet of suspected heroin weighing 550 grams was recovered from a farming field near Daoke village in Amritsar district on Friday.
Acting on specific information from the BSF intelligence wing received on October 3, the forces swiftly moved into action and recovered the narcotics packet during the night, according to the BSF.
The packet, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and further secured with blue tape, was found with a steel ring and a mini torch attached, the PRO said. (ANI)
