Dispur (Assam) [India]. September 24 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Assam unit has received an overwhelming response after the party started its membership drive since September 3, enrolling lakhs of people. The state unit now has over 40 lakh members across the state.
Assam Chief Minister took to social media platform X on Monday, to celebrate the historic milestone of the party.
“With 40 lakh members, #BJPSadasyata2024 crosses a historic milestone in Assam. This reflects the people’s support for our uncompromising approach to Vikas & Virasat,” read the Chief Minister’s post.
In 2019, the party had just over 18 lakh members in Assam, with the BJP’s membership drive, the party has over 40 lakh members. The party’s membership drive will continue till September 25.

He also thanked the BJP’s Assam General Secretary Pallab Lochan Das, party’s state President and MLA Bhabesh Kalita and all the workers of the party in his post.
The Chief Minister said on September 13 that the state unit had enrolled over 20 lakh people in just 9 days.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party, Assam Pradesh, has already enrolled 20,43,796 members in just 9 days. In fact, we have already surpassed the total membership enrolled in 2019. We will continue the membership drive with even greater dedication,” Sarma said.
The Assam Chief Minister further said that they had a target to cross 18 lakh and yesterday they crossed the target.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister said that the BJP’s membership drive in the state had been successful, with 13 lakh people joining within a week.
Additionally, the party has also enrolled nearly 4 lakh people in Tripura. From Dharmanagar to Sabroom, the campaign has sparked enthusiastic participation among the people of the state.
This initiative by the Chief Minister Manik Saha, aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational base while managing governance, has greatly inspired party workers at all levels.
“On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launched the membership drive, and the following day I began the membership campaign in Tripura. Previously, approximately 650,000 people accepted membership in the BJP, and this time the target has been increased in Tripura and at the central level,” CM Saha said while speaking to ANI. (ANI)
