New Delhi [India], August 23 (ANI): On the allegations of being Rohtak-centric, former Haryana Chief Minister and LoP Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday, while giving numerous examples, said that he had developed the whole state of Haryana and not just Rohtak.
Furthermore, he hit out at the state government and questioned them on what they had done in the last 10 years.
When asked that it is often said that he indulges in ‘Rohtak-centric’ development, Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “Those who do not know and understand the development of Haryana say this. Did Haryana reached at good per capita only from Rohtak. It has been done all over the state. What did they (BJP government in state) do in these 10 years? We tried to make Haryana an education hub, set up industries in Panchkula, made a National Institute of Design in Kurukshetra, made Kalpana Chawla Medical College in Karnal, made Dr Ambedkar University in Sonipat, made Mahila Medical College in Khanpur, there is Jindal University, made Engineering College of Murthal a University, made a Medical College in Faridabad, put foundation stone of first-ever Defence University in Gurgaon, an AIIMS came in Jhajjar, central universities came in Mahendragarh, an IIM came in Rohtak, etc, just visit every corner of the state, I am Haryana centric. They are in government since 9.5-10 years, name one national-level institute that they have established.”
Meanwhile, he also conveyed that Rahul Gandhi will campaign for forthcoming Haryana elections and the party will form the government with a thumping majority.
On Haryana Assembly elections, Hooda said, “Congress will form the Government with a thumping majority. Congress is present all over the state. Yes, he (Rahul Gandhi) will also come for campaigning. Now, there will be meetings of scrutiny committee and tickets will be distributed among the party members and the campaigns are going on. There is a contest between Congress and BJP but Congress will form the Government.”
The elections to the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana will be held in a single phase on October 1 and the counting of votes will take place on October 4.
In Haryana, there are a total of 2.01 crore voters in Haryana, of which 1.06 crore are males, 0.95 crores are females, 4.52 lakhs are first-time voters and 40.95 lakhs are young voters.
The last day to file the nominations of Haryana will be September 12. The date of scrutiny of the nominations is September 13. The last date for the withdrawal of candidatures will be September 16.
The term of the current government in Haryana will end on November 3, 2024, and elections will take in 90 legislative assembly constituencies in the state.
After the 2019 elections, the BJP, with 40 seats in the 90-member assembly, formed a coalition government with the JJP. The JJP had won 10 seats, while the Congress had won 31 seats. The BJP-JJP alliance broke earlier this year.
In 2024, Haryana is likely to see a four-way contest between the BJP, the Congress, the JJP, and the AAP. (ANI)
