New Delhi [India], July 18 (ANI): Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said that 6G is a developing technology, but the major changes in India’s telecom industry have been that we are a part of the developing process across the world in regard to 6G technology.
Speaking to the media on the launch of the India Mobile Congress 2024, Scindia said, “We are not falling behind anywhere in terms of development. There are two aspects to developing 5G. One is to be able to give a larger pipe with greater speed and less latency, and the second is to take the industry forward. Every technological paradigm brings with it lot of opportunities. When drones came to India, it itself was a technological change. You have a hard work and a software aspect of it. Every use will require a different software.”
“We strive to form new applications based on 5G technology,” he said.
The telecom minister further mentioned that India saw some major changes in the industry.
“6G is a developing technology. There is no target set for it in the world. Today, the transmission from 4G to 5G is happening, and the definition of 6G is being defined around the world. As far as 4G is concerned, we were behind the curve, in 5G, we are on the curve; and in 6G, we are a part of the developing process across the world. That’s the delta change that happened in the telecom industry in India,” Scindia added.
The India Mobile Congress is Asia’s largest telecom, media, and technology forum. It provides a platform to showcase India’s remarkable advancements in telecommunications and technology, making significant announcements and offering start-ups the opportunity to showcase innovative products and solutions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2023, inaugurated the 7th edition of the IMC.
Under the theme ‘Global Digital Innovation,’ IMC 2023 seeks to reinforce India’s position as a developer, manufacturer, and exporter of cutting-edge technologies, including 5G, 6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and critical discussions on issues related to the semiconductor industry, green technology, and cybersecurity.
